Planned to be the first LEED fire station in Lenexa, DA+UD was engaged to work with the design team to lead an Eco-Charrette, where sustainable strategies were prioritized by evaluating overall environmental benefit versus first and life cycle probably costs.  Green building components considered for the new state of the art building include geothermal heating/cooling, highly durable construction materials, natural daylighting and ventilation, and materials that protect indoor air quality and are locally sourced.
