DA+UD assisted the City of Lenexa on their City Center, Central Green project as eco-consultant.  Engaging the design team through collaborative means, a visioning process determined how the park design could be more sustainable.  The benchmarking system of the Sustainable Sites Initiative pilot program was used as a guide;  elements such as site planning, water management, energy use and material choice were each reviewed and optimized.  The triple bottom line method of balancing environmental, economic and social benefits was integral to the process, with Green recommendations estimated to result in a net savings to the project.  The project was recently given the opportunity to participate in the Sustainable Sites Initiative pilot program and is currently under construction.
