City Ice Studios

Located in the historic City Ice headquarters, the new 10,000 square foot office and gallery space was a challenging renovation and restoration as the building had been largely abandoned.  Economy, flexibility and creative use of materials were all priorities for the owner/developer.  The new design incorporates many recycled and salvaged materials from the original factory.  For example, refrigerant pipes that previously ran the length of the building are being reused for decorative steel, rails and bicycle racks.  The main focal point is the new railing comprised of re-purposed plastic panels etched with a moire pattern.  Mechanical and electrical systems were all updated and brought up to current code standards. ADA accessibility laws are being implemented with the design.
